Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is an anti-aging procedure that uses plasma derived from your own blood to stimulate collagen and boost healing to achieve natural-looking skin results. Nurse Jenn a highly trained professional takes a sample of your blood, runs it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets in your plasma, and then uses it for microneedling or injects the plasma and platelets directly into the treatment area.

The activated platelets in PRP release growth factors that stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and reparative cells. They also have hydrating properties that can help create the anti-aging process. Essentially, PRP facials hijack your body's natural healing processes to rejuvenate your face.

PRP is often done as a facial with microneedling or specifically injected under the eyes to combat dark circles. It can also be used to stimulate hair growth or help with sports injury healing.

Preparing for your PRP treatment:

• Stay hydrated and drink water prior to appointment. (4 litres is recommended within 24 hours of appointment, 1 litre within 4 hours) Hydration facilitates easy blood draw, good quality plasma, and helps you tolerate discomfort).
• Eat prior to appointment.
• Avoid greasy and fatty foods 48 hours prior to treatment. (It compromises quality of plasma).
• Eat balanced diet inclusive of iron rich foods.
• Avoid NSAIDs and blood thinners 48 hours of treatment.
• Do not skip appointments. Compliance is key for results!
• Do ask questions!!!!

Post Care:

• Refrain from washing face for 6 hours.
• Avoid make up for 24 hours.
• No vigorous activity for 24 hours.
• Avoid saunas and steamy showers for 24 hours.
• Avoid the direct sun/sun tan beds for 10 days.
• Wear medical grade SPF every day. (Elte MD) suggested.
• Prepare that there could be redness in treated area for up to 72 hours.
• Drink lots of water.
• Use medical grade creams, cleansers and topical solutions to optimize outcomes.
• Refrain from Botox treatments for 2 weeks.
• Make sure you follow recommended amount of treatments and duration between to optimize results.
